Siwelele FC have axed head coach Lehlohonolo Seema, as well as his assistant Willem Jackson, after their struggling start to the 2026/27 season.
Siwelele’s winless run at the start of the current Betway Premiership campaign was extended to five matches on Sunday when they were beaten 3-2 away to Kaizer Chiefs at the Dobsonville Stadium.
The Bloemfontein club are placed 14th on the log with just two points from five rounds – only goal difference kept them above Marumo Gallants in the relegation playoff berth.
In a statement issued by Siwelele chairman Calvin le John, the club laid out their reasoning for parting ways with the technical team.
“This has been a challenging period for the club, and our supporters deserve better than what they have seen so far this season,” read the statement.
“Our belief in this team, in our players and in what we are building at Siwelele remains unchanged.
“This is a moment to stand together, to work harder and to embody the spirit that defines this club: courage, unity and fighting for one another. Our season is still young. We will face the challenge in front of us together, as one team and one family.”
Godfrey Mosoetsa will take charge of the first team on a caretaker basis, with his first match in charge a trip to Mamelodi Sundowns on the evening of Wednesday 9 September.
