Phuti Mohafe believes that his sacking at Marumo Gallants came too soon and that he is already eyeing a return to coaching.
Former Marumo Gallants coach Phuti Mohafe recently expressed that former side Marumo Gallants wanted immediate results heading into the 2026/27 campaign while a poor run of results ultimately lead to his sacking.
After noting to victories in the first five games of the season, the ex-Polokwane City mentor was shown the door at Gallants as Trevor Mathiane was roped in as the interim boss which paved the way for Ronny Kanalelo to be chosen as the new head coach.
Reflecting on his situation, Mohafe said that for now, he is ‘idling’ at home in anticipation of a phone call while he wished for better circumstances at Gallants.
“I am still idling at home and making some contacts here and there. I don’t know how long I will stay at home without a job,” Mohafe said, as per Hollywood Bets.
“I don’t regret leaving Polokwane City. I took a risk, and the risk that I took didn’t materialise into my perspective.
“Obviously, I had hoped for a longer stay, but it didn’t happen. When you check the standard of the team, you look at Marumo now, and you look at the club last season, there is a huge difference.
“So I think it was too soon to pull the plug, but they were looking for instant results.”
