Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz confirmed Lebohang Maboe was taken off injured against Golden Arrows at the Mbombela Stadium, on Sunday.
The experienced campaigner was key in the Betway Premiership 0-0, missed a first-half penalty, then went off early in the second half, putting his only Chiefs’ Bafana Bafana call-up under Pitso Mosimane in doubt for Guinea on 26 September, Eritrea on 30 September, and Egypt on 4 October.
That could leave Bafana without their only Chiefs option under Maboe’s former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, while Chiefs would be weaker in an attack that already struggles to score, with the midfielder having scored twice and provided two assists this season.
“We changed position for position for Maboe, unfortunately his injury arrived a bit early in the second half,” Da Cruz said.
