Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs expressed that his former side missed golden opportunities to separate themselves from Mamelodi Sundowns during the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
Pirates currently occupy second spot on the log, one point behind Sundowns who have a game in hand. While the Buccaneers are chasing their first league crown since the 2011/12 season, Sundowns are in line to bag their ninth consecutive league trophy.
Josephs thus mentioned that Sundowns know what it takes to win the league, given their knowledge during the run-in period of the season, while Pirates fell short during critical parts of the campaign.
“Sundowns have got acres and miles in an abundance of experience in doing this thing,” Josephs said on the Soccer Beat podcast, as per Hollywood Bets.
You know? We had them by the neck about four or five games ago. We had them, the chance, and then we slipped up.
“Every time when it’s crucial for us, we slip up. And that, for me, was the frustrating part when we had a little bit of a chance, just to put a little bit of a lock on them, we slipped up.
“For me, the mindset is not quite there yet. As much as I’d love my team to win this league for the way they have performed this season”.
