Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef believes qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup will be in the bag if they beat Polokwane City on Saturday.
Amakhosi are one of the in-form teams in the Betway Premiership after they thrashed rock-bottom Magesi 4-1 at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday to solidify their place in the top three.
The Glamour Boys opened up a six-point gap to fourth-placed AmaZulu with their fifth consecutive win – a feat not achieved since the 2019-20 season.
Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze’s side also have a game in hand on Usuthu and they face a Rise And Shine team who have only won two of their nine matches in 2026.
“We are taking each game as a cup game. Every game is difficult for us… We have to fight in each and every game,” Ben Youssef said ahead of the clash at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
“I think we need to win against Polokwane to confirm our position and continue to fight. Being in the top three is a minimum for a big team as Kaizer Chiefs.”
Chiefs won the Nedbank Cup in 2025 to end a 10-year wait for a trophy, and Ben Youssef reckons more silverware is on the way as the club is moving in the right direction.
“Last season we won the Nedbank Cup and this season we are better in the league, so we are continuing to build our team,” the Tunisian tactician added.
“In the next few seasons the team will be back winning trophies and will be one of the best in Africa.”
