Sukazi – ‘I would go for Benni’

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi believes that Benni McCarthy holds the appropriate credentials to lead Bafana Bafana following Hugo Broos’ reign as the national team head coach.

While Broos’ expressed his desire to retire following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Belgian mentor’s future is yet to be decided, sparking widespread debate as to who will lead the South African squad in the near future.

However, Sukazi vouched for the Kenya national team coach to be the next Bafana Bafana coach. The Rockets chairman highlighted McCarthy’s body of work in the PSL as a good enough reason to be hired for the hot seat, given his swift success with the likes of AmaZulu and Cape Town City.

“Benni McCarthy is doing magic with an unfashionable side in Kenya,” Sukazi said at his team’s squad unveiling, as per TimesLive.

“He has done a splendid job at all the teams he coached here when he was a novice in the coaching field.

“At AmaZulu, he finished second, and he won the MTN8 with Cape Town City and his teams have been high up there. That’s the truth and these are the facts.

“He’s young. So if you ask me, I will go for Benni McCarthy, no doubt about it. I am saying that with the utmost respect to the other candidates. I don’t know if Benni is a candidate, and I don’t know the other candidates.

“There has been mention of coach Pitso Mosimane but If I were to go for personal choice, I would go for Benni.”
