South African legend Dillon Sheppard has enjoyed double delight at Kaizer Chiefs, earning his CAF A Licence (adding to his UEFA A Licence) in Tanzania while being promoted to second assistant coach of the senior team.
This significant dual milestone greatly strengthens the Betway Premiership giants’ technical staff, as the 47-year-old will now work closely alongside head coach Fernando da Cruz and assistant coach Mahmoud Abbas, bringing enhanced expertise and continuity to the senior setup.
Sheppard will continue to play a vital bridging role as the key link between the reserve team and the first team, ensuring smooth player development and integration as the club prepares for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Reflecting on this achievement, Coach Sheppy says, “I’m proud to have achieved this. The journey started some time ago and came with challenges along the way, but I’m glad I’ve reached the goal. I’m grateful to the Club for standing by me throughout the process, and I’ll work hard to share the knowledge I have acquired with our players and other coaches within the Club.”
Chiefs’ Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. offered deserved praise for Coach Dillon, stating: “We fully support the education and development of our coaches. Having Coach Sheppy qualified to work at the highest level in Africa with his CAF A Licence, as well as in Europe with his UEFA A Licence, means our players – both in the Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy and the senior team – will benefit greatly.
