Thabo Cele has detailed how Amakhosi can beat Sundowns in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday evening.
In what is billing up to be one of the most exciting Betway Premiership games during the closing stages of the season, Kaizer Chiefs will now turn their attention to Mamelodi Sundowns at a sold-out Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday, with Thabo Cele optimistic about their chances in the tie.
As it stands, Sundowns lead the way at the top of the pile, two points ahead of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns with three games left to play. Elsehwere, Chiefs are in third, five points ahead of fourth placed AmaZulu as they look to qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup once more.
According to Cele, Chiefs pose a valuable threat to Sundowns, particularly in transitional play. The Glamour Boys star thus believes that his side will have to be clinical on the break in their attempts to detail Sundowns.
“Sundowns are a good team to play against because they are very tactical and technical. The way they play, they have a lot of patience, so it becomes a mind game. I love those games,” Cele said, as per Flashscore.
“They are going to want to have a lot of the ball because that is how they create their chances and how they avoid transitions. For us, playing away, we will look for opportunities when we break, but when we get into their half, we also want to keep the ball.
“That is what they use to win games, so if you can starve them of that, it becomes an advantage for you. It is a very interesting game for us”.
