As a coach who shies away from lauding individual achievements, Orlando Pirates mentor Abdeslam Ouaddou recently expressed that Oswin Appollis has been a driving force in his side’s surge for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership crown.
With Pirates in line to clinch their first league title since the 2011/12 season, Appollis has been a standout performer for the Soweto giants in the Betway Premiership.
As it stands, the marauding midfielder managed to record eight goals and six assists in 27 league ties so far, while an overall 11 goals and nine assists has put himself among the best midfielders in South Africa.
In assessing the 24-year-old’s showings, Ouaddou believes that Appollis adds a special gloss to his team.
“Even though I like to speak about the collective project — because for me that’s the most important thing — Appollis is shining within that collective, through his teammates,” Ouaddou said, as per IOL.
“But I cannot avoid or forget to say that he’s a fantastic player. He brings something special to the team, technically, in terms of finishing in the final third.”
