Orlando Pirates and South African football icon Jomo Sono expressed that Mamelodi Sundowns can’t bank on games in hand during their bid to claim their ninth consecutive PSL league title.
As it stands, Pirates lead the way at the top by two points with five games left play, while second-placed Sundowns have two games in hand following their exploits in the CAF Champions League.
Sono, who is banking on Pirates to go all the way, believes that the Betway Premiership title charge will go down to the wire.
“It’s going to be difficult, you know,” Sono told KickOff.
“I would love [for] Pirates to win it since I’m also a Pirate, but it’s going to be difficult for both teams. But we don’t know who is going to cross the finish line first.
“Sundowns have got two games in hand, but two games in hand doesn’t mean points. You don’t have points. You still have to go out there and fight for those points. I think it will go to the wire.”
