The Nedbank Cup final is coming back to Polokwane after the New Peter Mokaba Stadium was announced as the venue for the crunch clash between Durban City and TS Galaxy on May 2.
It will be the second time that the Ke Yona decider is being held in Limpopo after SuperSport United beat Orlando Pirates 3-2 at the 2010 World Cup stadium in 2016.
Citizens chairman Farouk Kadodia has called on the PSL to select a permanent venue going forward, citing the FA Cup final in England always being hosted at Wembley as an example.
The Nedbank Cup final has been staged at 12 different venues since 2008, with the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban the most used (five), including the 2025 edition when Kaizer Chiefs ran out 2-1 victors over arch-rivals Pirates to win the title for a record 14th time.
“We should be having a season stadium, if the final of the Nedbank Cup can be [planned] like Wembley, then we can have our Wembley,” Kadodia said.
“Where is our own Wembley? That’s when we should have realised, the FA Cup [final] plays at Wembley, where will the Nedbank Cup final play? That’s how we should determine the venue.”
