Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns crowd favourite Thembinkosi Lorch has paid tribute to Wydad following his high-profile transfer to Al Ittihad SC.
The 32-year-old has been a shining light in North Africa during the last couple of months and subsequently caught the attention of the Libyan giants.
As per various reports in North African media, Al ittihad SC purchased Lorch for a price around the $1.5 million (±R24 million) mark as they splashed the cash in an attempt to bolster their attack line.
Reflecting on the move, Lorch paid tribute to Wydad for giving him a unique ‘opportunity’ to ply his trade beyond the South African borders.
“I’d like to thank this team for giving me the opportunity to play,” Lorch said via beINSPORTS, as per Lorenz Kohler.
“Not everyone gets the chance to play for a big team like Wydad.
“I will carry them [and memories] with me until I retire.”
