Cameroon head coach David Pagou has made it known that the pressure is on South Africa ahead of their clash in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The two former African champions are set to meet in the Round of 16 match at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday, with a spot in the quarter-finals at stake.
Cameroon will be facing their former coach, Hugo Broos, who guided South Africa to a third-place finish during the 2023 AFCON edition in Ivory Coast, having won the 2017 tournament with the Indomitable Lions.
Pagou believes that the pressure is on Bafana because the Indomitable Lions are building a team after he replaced Marc Brys as Cameroon coach earlier this month.
“We are satisfied because we qualified,” Pagou told the media, as per CFOOT.
“During the last Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa had a very good run. They will be under pressure because we are a team in the making.
“It will be a very complicated match.”
The winner between Cameroon and South Africa will take on either hosts, Morocco or Tanzania, in the quarter-finals in Rabat on January 9.
