South Africa international Sipho Mbule has six months left on his contract with Orlando Pirates and the club has been urged to extend the deal.
The 27-year-old has established himself as one of the top PSL midfielders in the current season after joining the Buccaneers on a free transfer from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mbule, who had an unsuccessful loan spell at Sekhukhune United as a Sundowns loanee last season, has helped Bucs clinch the MTN8 title and Carling Knockout trophy.
“I think he has done well so far, and he took the opportunity with both hands, so he deserves a new contract. He has brought the calmness in the midfield,” ex-Pirates midfielder Solomon Mathe told Soccer Laduma.
The former SuperSport United star’s agent, Mike Makaab, recently disclosed that the player’s contract has an option that can be triggered by Pirates.
Nevertheless, Mbule could attract interest from international clubs as the technically gifted player is a key player in the Bafana Bafana squad at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
He has made 17 appearances for Pirates under coach Abdeslam Ouaddou across all competitions this term.
