Tsiki’s Troubles

Ex-University of Pretoria mentor explains Tsiki Ntsabeleng’s struggles at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mandla Zwane believes that Tsiki Ntsabeleng has been struggling for game time at Mamelodi Sundowns as a result of player competition within the squad.

Ntsabeleng joined Sundowns on loan from FC Dallas ahead of the 2025/26 campaign but has battled to make a name for himself among a star-studded Brazilians’ outfit.

According to Zwane, the timing of Ntsabeleng’s move could well have put him in an awkward position at the club.

“It’s a tough one, but I’ll try and simplify it as best as I can,” Zwane said, as per Soccer Laduma.

“Remember, Tsiki went to America in 2018, so he’s been playing there for almost seven years now. Coming back to South Africa on loan, it’s not a bad idea, it’s not a good idea either. However, one thing to remember is that everything is done during pre-season.

“He came long after pre-season was conducted, so now he has to find adjustments somehow, which is difficult.

“The coach already has his own line-up and players before the season starts. So when a new player comes in, the coach has to juggle things around.”
