Following Angola’s 2-1 loss against Bafana Bafana in their opening Group B match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday, Patrice Beaumelle believes his side gave a good account of themselves against a ‘top’ African team.
Speaking after the game, Beaumelle reserved special praises for Bafana, while mentioning that Angola are sad after their opening day defeat.
“Obviously, we are a bit sad because we lost the first game and when you start a competition, it’s always important to start with points,” Beaumelle said on Prime Sports With Mahlatse.
“But facing a top team in Africa, I think we did a good game when we play such a team. We made two mistakes and then we played catch up.
“The first goal we get back, and we try to contain. We tried to apply the plan that we prepared during all weeks but finally we made another mistakes.
“Congratulations for Bafana Bafana and we just have to keep your heads up because we still have two games to go.”
