Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou insists it is too early to be judged after guiding the team to their second major cup final of the season.
The Moroccan tactician masterminded the Buccaneers’ 1-0 win over Richards Bay in Saturday’s Carling Knockout semi-final match, with Tshepang Moremi scoring the only goal of the game.
Therefore, Bucs progressed to the final, where they will face either Marumo Gallants or Lamontville Golden Arrows next month.
With Pirates having won this season’s MTN8 title, they could complete a cup double by winning the Carling Knockout trophy, but Ouaddou has now downplayed his early success at Bucs, having joined the club in June 2025.
“I think it’s too soon to summarise my work, I’ll be judged at the end of the season. I’m still at the beginning,” Ouaddou told reporters.
“In this job, you have to be very humble. Our ambition is to deliver a good performance in every game, and that’s what we did today and three days ago against Golden Arrows in the league.
“The boys have been doing a great job in the three months I’ve been here. But if you ask me to summarise my season now, it’s too soon. Let’s stay humble and keep working.”
Pirates and Ouaddou are heading into the FIFA international break with the Buccaneers’ next fixture scheduled for November 25 against Chippa United in the Betway Premiership at the Orlando Stadium.
The Carling Knockout final will take place on December 6.
