Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has been nominated for the IFFHS Men’s World Best Club Coach 2025 award.
The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has named Mamelodi Sundowns head coach MIguel Cardoso in the shortlist for its Men’s World Best Club Coach award.
The rankings, which have been done by the group since 1987, are determined by the coach’s performance through the calendar year, not according to the season.
The 20-man list of nominees includes Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Enrique, Vincent Kompany of Bayern Munich, Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca, Napoli’s Antonio Conte, Barcelona’s Hansi Flick and Krunoslav Jurcic of Egypt’s Pyramids FC.
Cardoso received a nomination for this year’s award after joining Masandawana on 10 December 2024.
The Portuguese tactician secured the club’s eighth successive top flight league title in South Africa and guided the club to the CAF Champions League final, losing out on silverware to Pyramids FC of Egypt.
Sundowns also competed in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States of America where Sundowns finished third in group F with one won, one loss and one draw, narrowly missing out on a place in the knockout stages.
Masandawana currently sit top of the Betway Premiership, three points above Orlando Pirates, having played two more games.
The club has struggled in domestic cups in the 2025/26 season, being knocked out of both the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout.
