“Happy With What I Have” — Chiefs Coach Da Cruz

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz says he is happy with the squad he currently has and does not feel the need to keep adding players simply for the sake of it.

The Frenchman of Portuguese descent has left a small opening for a late arrival only if that player can genuinely strengthen the team before the window shuts on September 21.

Despite disappointment at the 1-1 draw with Polokwane City in the Betway Premiership, Da Cruz believes Chiefs are moving in the right direction in how they play and must keep going.

“No, I am happy with the squad that I have. If a player is going to arrive, I think I would take the opportunity, but I don’t want to take a player to take him,” Da Cruz told reporters.

“If it is to take someone, it is someone that will be useful. For the moment, I am very happy with the squad that we have. We are moving forward; we are disappointed with the result.

“But we are on the right path in terms of the quality of the game, in terms of the modelling of the game, in terms of what we want to show. We must continue, we must not give up.”

The Soweto giants have signed Thabo Moloisane, Renaldo Leaner, Langelihle Phili, Adolf Mtasingwa and Faiz Abrahams on loan, while making Khanyisa Mayo’s move permanent.

Next Chiefs will look to keep building on the style Da Cruz wants and only add another player if he can clearly improve the squad before the window closes.
