Abram Mongoya took the positive approach in assessing Kruger United’s Betway Premiership debut defeat against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday night.
In what was a baptism of fire for Kruger United in South Africa’s top flight, Abram Mongoya and his charges suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs at the Mbombela Stadium this weekend, while the coach reiterated that his side will do well during the 2026/27 campaign.
Kruger held Chiefs to a 1-1 scoreline at the break, however, second-half substitute Wandile Duba made all the difference for the Soweto giants after scoring brace to give his side maximum points on away soil.
In reflection of the tie, Mongoya expressed that Kruger will attempt to make the Mbombela Stadium a fortress for any team that walks out onto their home patch.
“Whoever comes in Mbombela it won’t be an easy one. We travel to Marumo, they didn’t play today – had a privilege however it won’t be easy for them,” Mongoya said after the match, as per Soccer Laduma.
We go to Rustenburg and most definitely we will work around how we improve.
“We’re fortunate enough we will play two more friendlies just before we go to them because when you play friendlies that’s where you see where you lack, and now we had to do that at the expense of a league game and to be honest I’m proud of the boys”.
