Following much speculation of Sales’ immediate future at Sundowns, the Brazilian striker’s absence from the squad has now been explained.
With Mamelodi Sundowns preparing for the 2026/27 football season, Arthur Sales is yet to report for duty while reasons for his absence have been revealed.
Sales’ endured a shoulder injury toward the end of the 2025/26 campaign but remained in the team during the latter stages of the club’s rigorous fixture schedule.
Sundowns recently departed for Austria to commence their pre-season work as Sales’ remained one of the biggest absentees from the team. However, according to Soccer Laduma, the Brazilian is currently nursing an unspecified injury and is recovering at home.
“No, he’s injured and has not recovered. That’s why you don’t see him at the moment,” a source told the publication.
The same report mentions that there are no ‘clear’ indications of a return date with the new season being weeks away.
