Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the departure of star striker Peter Shalulile after deciding not to renew his expiring contract.
The Namibian joined the club from Highlands Park in 2020 and became one of the PSL’s most prolific forwards, scoring 107 goals and providing 27 assists.
The man nicknamed Sha-Sha helped Sundowns win five Betway Premiership titles, the CAF Champions League, African Football League, MTN8 and Nedbank Cup.
Sha-Sha is also the PSL’s record goalscorer having scored 133 times for Sundowns and Highlands Park.
“Peter Shalulile departs Mamelodi Sundowns as one of the club’s most prolific forwards,” a club statement read.
“Thank you for the goals, trophies, and the commitment in yellow. All the best for what comes next, Peter.”
Shalulile, now a free agent at 32, has been linked with moves to clubs in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, North Africa (e.g. Esperance Tunis) and Zimbabwean champions Scottland FC.
Locally, he has been linked with Sundowns’ PSL rivals like Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
