Kruger United have “categorically” denied rumours alleging that the club has sold its Betway Premiership status following a historic promotion this past season.
The Village Boys, who were only formed in 2023 after purchasing the ABC Motsepe League status of Caroline FC, won the Motsepe Foundation Championship title by eight points in 2025-26.
It continued their remarkable rise after the Mpumalanga outfit gained promotion twice in their first three seasons, having finished fifth on their debut in the First Division, just three points shy of the playoffs.
However, reports have surfaced in the media that the club may opt out of competing in the top tier of South African football by selling its franchise to another team.
Kruger United also addressed speculation that first-team players Kagiso Malinga, Celimpilo Ngema, Khethukuthula Ndlovu, Georges Lata, Kabelo Seriba and Philasande Manqele have been released.
“Kruger United FC has noted with concern the false and misleading information currently circulating on various platforms regarding the alleged sale of the club, as well as reports claiming that certain players have been released,” the club said a statement.
“The club would like to categorically state that these reports are completely false and without any factual basis. Kruger United FC has not been sold, nor has the club made any official announcements regarding the release of players.
“We urge our supporters, and the general public not to believe or share unverified information. All official club announcements and updates will only be communicated through Kruger United FC’s official communication channels.”
