Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou remained calm and refused to criticise his players after their draw against Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership.
The 1-1 draw left Mamelodi Sundowns now holding a slight edge in the Betway Premiership title race, trailing leaders Pirates by just one point while having a game in hand.
However, Ouaddou insisted he had no reason to fault his side despite dropping points at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, where Vincent Pule gave Siwelele the lead in the 29th minute before Tshepang Moremi equalised for the Buccaneers.
“I have nothing to reproach the boys for; they played a good game,” the former Morocco international told SuperSport TV.
“We knew it would be very difficult against Siwelele. I think we must congratulate them on the game.
They took two points from us, unfortunately. Everyone could see that the boys wanted to win this game, but I’m not worried,” he added.
“If we keep playing like this until the end of the season, many things can still happen. We have to believe until the end.”
Sundowns can reclaim top spot—and potentially open a gap—with a win in their next fixture against Marumo Gallants on Tuesday, March 17, while Pirates will be away to TS Galaxy on March 22.
