Former South African international Thembinkosi Lorch has made a good impression at his new club, scoring on debut for Al-Ittihad SC in the 1-0 home win over Al Shomooa in the Libyan Cup.
The 32-year-old joined the Libyan club from Morocco’s Wydad AC in early February for a reported fee of around €1.1 million.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates man netted the winner in the 83rd minute to send his new side through to the next round.
Before his move, Lorch had managed four goals and one assist in seven Botola Pro 1 appearances and is continuing his fine form on new ground.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup around the corner, Lorch will be looking to catch the eye of Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos, having last represented South Africa in 2022 during Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying.
