Petersen’s pride

Amakhosi goalkeeper Brandon Petersen expressed that the Soweto giants will do all they can to retain the Nedbank Cup title.

Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper Brandon Petersen has said that one of the Naturena-based side’s foremost objectives of the 2025/26 campaign is to win the Nedbank Cup trophy once more.

The Soweto giants claimed the cup following a 2-1 win over arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium under the tutelage of former mentor Nasreddine Nabi last season.

With Chiefs bracing themselves for a clash against Stellenbosch FC, whom they faced in the quarter-finals of the showpiece in March last year, Petersen mentioned that the Glamour Boys want to approach the tournament with ‘pride and dignity’.

“This is probably the third time I’ve drawn Stellenbosch in a cup competition, so it’s always been an exciting game,” Petersen said, as per SNL24.

“We know that when we play in Cape Town, our supporters always come out in numbers, and we’ve done well there in the past.

“For us, it’s important to defend the title properly. The main objective is to bring the trophy back home and keep it Naturena. We’re highly motivated and focused.

“Whoever we play against, we want to defend the title with pride and dignity.”
