Ex-Orlando Pirates trickster Lebohang Mokoena is of the thought that Relebohile Mofokeng made a mistake by declining the chance to sign for Rulani Mokwena’s MC Alger.
Mofokeng is deemed to be one of South Africa’s hottest prospects at the moment, while he has been continuously linked with a move beyond the South African borders.
According to ‘Cheeseboy’, as Mokoena is affectionately known in South African football circles, joining MC Alger makes sense given Mokwena’s know-how of PSL-based players.
“For Rele, I don’t think it was a wise move to decline such an offer. We spoke earlier this season, even last season that teams like Al Ahly and MC Alger will come knocking and the money is good as well,” Mokwena told iDiskiTimes, as per The South African.
“It has been happening for a while that North African teams have been coming to South Africa to get our players
“It gave players more opportunities to win the Champions League and play in the Club World Cup.
“If I were him, I was going to take the offer and work with coach Rulani as he understands you as a local player and knows where he wants him to play.”
