Appollis’ humility

Orlando Pirates star Oswin Appollis believes that he did not deserve to bag the Man of the Match award during the club’s 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants in the Carling Knockout Cup final on Saturday.

The Buccaneers continued their fine form this weekend by claiming the CKO trophy in extra-time at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium this weekend.

Appollis played a starring role in his side’s win over Gallants as he continues to shine as one of South Africa’s best midfielders currently.

Reflecting on the game, Appollis thanked the fans for their vote but ultimately felt as though there were other worthy candidates for the individual honour.

“We have to thank the man above to make the win today, and what can I say the boys we fought today and first of all I want to thank the fans who voted for me,” Appollis said after the match.

“But I think there’s players that deserved it more today because it wasn’t my best game. But like I said thank you to the fans.

“Yes, we have been putting in the work to reach the final, the boys fought today like I said and even in the other previous matches the boys fought but like I said before I don’t think I deserved it today, but thank you to the fans.”
