Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou stressed that his side’s first-half performance against Durban City was not ‘fantastic’ on Saturday afternoon.
The Buccaneers climbed to the top of the Betway Premiership standings in style after securing a 2-0 victory over City at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
“Yes, of course I’m very happy about the result, I think we finished the game well, especially in the second half, I’m very proud of the boys, of the bravery, the fighting spirit, especially in the second half,” Ouaddou told SuperSport after the game.
“I cannot say we had a fantastic first half, but it’s football, I cannot blame them. We went into halftime and made some adjustments, tactical adjustments and they understood it. So, I don’t want to blame them for this first half.”
Ouaddou and his charges have since turned their attention to the December 6 Carling Knockout final showdown against Marumo Gallants at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Durban.
“We finished well and I have to check the log, but I think it’s good for our fans, our club. Now I want to focus on the final. “I will congratulate them. I will shake their hands but tonight my focus is on the final,” he added.
The Moroccan tactician will be looking to complete a cup double, having already lifted the MTN8 trophy with Pirates this season.
