Legendary South African coach Pitso Mosimane strongly believes that Kaizer Chiefs are on the right track under co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.
Amakhosi endured a 10-year trophy drought before they lifted the Nedbank Cup earlier this year, but they disappointingly finished outside the top eight in the Betway Premiership.
Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have set the bar in local football amid Chiefs’ struggles, winning league titles and cups respectively consistently.
Mosimane, who is the most successful coach in the history of the local Premier Soccer League, has boldly stated that Chiefs will soon be winning like Sundowns and Pirates.
“You can see Pirates are doing well, they are playing in Africa, you see their players with Bafana, Sundowns always help with players,” 61-year-old unattached Mosimane told reporters.
“The style of play of Bafana is exactly what you see at Pirates, what you see at Sundowns. It benefits the national team.
“The coach [Broos] doesn’t have to do much, the style is there, it’s embedded from Pirates, from Sundowns,” the three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach continued.
“I think Chiefs will follow very soon, and then we are winning. The coach has really, really done exceptionally well, selecting the players and giving them confidence.
“And the boys are doing well, so you can see the style of play of Bafana, that’s where you say national pride from the clubs.”
Chiefs will be in action on Saturday, taking on Egypt’s Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup Group D match in Polokwane.
