TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has called for improvements across the PSL, including officiating, following his side’s 2-1 loss to Magesi at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday.
The Rockets opened the scoring in the 65th minute through Seluleko Mahlambi but fell victim to a late comeback from the hosts.
Lehlogonolo Mokone and Thabang Sibanyoni netted 10 minutes apart to hand Magesi a precious lead in the 81st minute, which they managed to hold on to.
TS Galaxy defender Khulumani Ndamane claimed he was shoved in the back in the moments before Magesi’s equaliser and earned himself a yellow card for his protests, while the head coach picked up his second yellow card of the season later in the game due to his protests against the referee’s decisions.
“How we conceded the first goal, I think, first of all, it’s not real what the referee allowed after the knockout on our player, our central defender. He allowed [Magesi] to play more and then we conceded the goal,” said a frustrated Beganovic after the game.
The 42-year-old coach cited the improvement, development and success of Bafana Bafana, who recently qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as the standard to follow for domestic football in the country.
“I think [the] PSL is a serious league, it’s a serious league with serious teams and then we need to improve everything. Not only players, we improve now our national team, Bafana Bafana [will] go to the World Cup. I think we need to follow that example.
“Also everything around it [must] improve, like the field where we play, who is involved in the same game. I think we need to improve everything, not only players, not only clubs,” he said.
The Rockets sit eighth in the Betway Premiership with 13 points, having won four games, lost four and drawn one.
They are next in action on 26 October in the Carling Knockout as they face Lamontville Golden Arrows at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi in their quarterfinal clash.
