Libyan big-spenders Al Ahli Tripoli have announced a double signing of Congolese World Cup star Fiston Mayele and South African attacker Fagrie Lakay.
Mayele, a proven and clinical goal-scorer who established himself as a key attacking weapon for his previous side, has joined the Libyan club on a two-year contract from Egypt’s Pyramids and is expected to significantly strengthen their forward line.
South Africa international Fagrie Lakay has also signed a two-year deal, joining from Egypt’s Cleopatra FC, bringing his experience and quality from the Bafana Bafana setup to the Al Ahli Tripoli squad.
Both players arrive as important reinforcements that the club believes will help elevate the team’s performance and ambitions in the coming seasons.
“The Congolese goal-scorer “Fiston Mayele” is one of the attacking weapons of the leader with a two-year contract,” a club statement read.
“South African Fagrie Lakay joins the squad on a two-year contract,” another statement read.
With the addition of Mayele and Lakay, Al Ahli Tripoli will hope to strengthen their attack and secure domestic silverware in the Libyan Premier League and Cup competitions.
The new signings should also boost their chances of progressing deep into the CAF Confederation Cup and challenging for continental success.
