SAFA president Danny Jordaan has angrily dismissed reports that Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has been offered a one-year contract extension, calling the claims “nonsense” and insisting no such deal exists.
Jordaan emphasized that Broos’ future remains undecided and that SAFA will follow proper internal processes, with the technical team making a recommendation to the National Executive Committee before any final decision.
Visibly frustrated by media questions upon his return from the World Cup, he urged patience and warned journalists not to interrupt him while processes are still underway.
“Well, one thing I can say is that there is no such thing that SAFA signed a one-year contract with Broos. It doesn’t exist. It’s nonsense,” Jordaan told reporters.
“It’s better that this nonsense is not put out there. I just came back yesterday and I saw this. What is this now? It’s nonsense. We have a coach and we will deal with it. There is a process.
“The technical team makes a recommendation to the National Executive Committee. The National Executive Committee finally decides on the coach. So you cannot stop me in the street and hijack a decision. It’s not going to happen,” he continued.
“South Africa must wait. South Africa must understand. The World Cup ended just yesterday.”“Then you have your answer, so why are you asking me? Don’t interrupt when I’m talking. No, no, you’re out of order.”
“And you must behave yourself. You can ask your question, but I have just told you we’re having processes and things that must happen,” he added.
“So you must wait. I just told you I arrived in the country yesterday from the World Cup. I have not even met anybody from SAFA, but you want the timeline?”
