As Bafana Bafana prepare for their final match in Group A at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, South Africa returned to base camp in Mexico with their final fixture against South Korea set to commence at the Monterrey Stadium on 25 June.
South Africa suffered a 2-0 loss against Mexico in their opening match at the Azteca stadium on 11 June, in what was a tough outing for Hugo Broos’ charges as they came to terms with the demands of playing higher level opposition.
However, in their following World Cup assignment, Bafana managed to put on a spirited performance against Czechia at the Atlanta Stadium on 18 June with Teboho Mokoena’s 83rd minute penalty levelling the scoring in a 1-1 draw.
As it stands, Bafana are fourth in Group A on one point, while a win against South Korea strengthens their chances of making it out of the group.
According to SAFA’s official website, South Africa returned to their base camp in Pachuca on Friday and immediate commenced preparations at Universidad del Futbol.
Sphephelo Sithole will be available against South Korea after serving his red card suspension against Mexico, meanwhile Mokoena will be unavailable after accumulating two yellow cards.
