Milford coach Dr Xanti Pupuma shockingly expressed that he is ready to ‘resign’ after his side won the PSL Promotion/Relegation play-offs to earn themselves a place in the PSL.
The former Motsepe Foundation Championship side ended the round robin mini-league in first place this weekend following a 1-1 draw with Magesi at the Seshego Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Milford required just a point over Magesi in their final match to secure promotion, as they ended the tournament two points clear of their opponents at the top of the pile. Pupuma thus claimed that talks of resignation thus took place but reiterated his desire to settle the squad in South Africa’s top flight next season.
“[Laughs] I’m ready to resign, but I don’t think the boys are going to let me go more than my brothers are the boys,” Pupuma said after the match.
“In fact, we had a conversation about it and we said let’s give them one season so that they can step in and settle well.
“And we’re waiting for Mike and Zane to come in with their badges and stuff, we don’t really want to bring in an outside ideally.
“So, my aim is to allow them to grow into the structure. So, let’s see how it goes, I got other things to look at, my other job so I’m trying to balance things out because PSL is quite demanding.
“So, I will see what works for me and we’ll work it out.”
