Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou shocked the South African football fratenity by admitting he is “very very tired” and unsure about his future at the club.
This is despite masterminding a historic treble and ending a 14-year Betway Premiership title drought in his very first season with the Soweto giants, who overcame Orbit College 2-0 on Saturday to clinch the league trophy.
In an emotional post-match interview, the 47-year-old Moroccan tactician said he needs new energy and power to continue leading the big ship, and will sit down with his management to discuss what happens next season.
“I work with passion, I work with love and it’s difficult to lead such a big team like Orlando Pirates. It was a very difficult season and I’m tired, I’m very very tired,” Ouaddou said on SABC Sport.
“To be able to lead such a ship you need to be. I will sit and I will think – sit down with my management as well. I’m tired, we’ll speak about next season, about what can happen.
“I need energy, I need power. Without energy. It will be difficult to continue. We will sit. I’m speaking with emtions. It was a long season with lots of pressure. And we’ll speak, we will see.”
Ouaddou will sit down with his management and the club to discuss his future as the 2026/27 season looms.
