Miguel Cardoso believes that Sundowns have only themselves to blame after their 1-1 stalemate with Stellenbosch in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday night.
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso expressed that his side were reckless after losing ground in their hunt for a ninth consecutive PSL league title.
The draw left Sundowns in second place, one point behind log leaders Orlando Pirates while they have one game in hand. Downs led by a goal until the 86th minute after conceding a penalty late on which was converted by Tshegofatso Mabasa.
After Ronwen Williams saved the initial attempt, the former Pirates star pounced to give Stellies an equalizer, a goal that left Cardoso fuming on the touchline.
The Downs coach thus lamented his side’s inability to bury chances throughout the encounter before being ‘exposed’ by their opposite numbers.
“We can only complain on the goals we didn’t score. I think the second half was one after the other. And when you don’t make your goal, of course, you get exposed to a mistake,” Cardoso said in his post-match interview.
“And we did a big mistake on the approach. We were completely in control, there was no danger on that action.
“And we were reckless, very reckless the way we made that approach and we gave a penalty to the opponent. We can only complain on us, nothing more.”
