Orlando Pirates head coach Abderslam Ouaddou is hopeful about Kamogelo Sebelebele’s condition after the player was stretchered off in Pirates’ 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
The log leaders slipped-up against the defending champions and have had their lead at the top of the Betway Premiership table cut to three points.
Sebelebele started for the Buccaneers for the second time since his return from injury, which saw the 23-year-old undergo knee surgery after suffering a knock against Polokwane City on 22 October.
He was stretchered off in the 85th minute on Wednesday and replaced by Deano van Rooyen.
Playing as an inverted fullback pushing high up the field in possession, Sebelebele has to work hard on the field which Ouaddou is well aware of.
The former Moroccan international is hopeful that the player’s issue was simply caused by cramps.
“I’m not a doctor but I don’t think and I hope it’s not serious. I understood that it may be an issue of fatigue about cramp. You know that this position is demanding in term of activities in term of running defending and I have to check how much distance that he did,” said Ouaddou, speaking after the game.
“I think in the first half we let the ball to the opponent and we can say that we we run a lot. Maybe it can come from the distances that he run but I hope it’s not serious but I’m not sure that it’s really serious.”
The coach will be eagerly awaiting Sebelebele’s full medical assessment and hoping he will not lose the versatile wide player to the injury list.
