Chippa United head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has stated that he will keep the Chilli Boys in the Betway Premiership.
Chippa are at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table with seven points collected from 13 games. The club has lost eight games, drawn four and won only one game.
Vilakazi is the Chilli Boys’ fourth manager of the 2025/26 season, with the club having parted ways with Sinethemba Badela, Musa Nyatama and Luc Eymael this campaign.
Following the club’s 2-0 loss to Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday, Vilakazi stated he is confident that he will keep the club in the South African top flight, stating his team has the talent to retain their status in the Betway Premiership.
“I know that it’s unfortunate that I always come for the teams who are fighting relegation and I’m expected to do miracles. But what I can say is that I still maintain what I’ve said when I came to Chippa and I said that Chippa will never go down,” said Vilakazi.
“They will never be relegated. The reason I’m saying that it is because of the potential that is there in these players. And obviously, we needed to align a few areas in terms of aligning their psychological part in terms of believing in themselves,” he said.
The 43-year-old tactician has been in charge of three Chippa games this season, and said he has already seen improvement.
“I believe in the team, my brother. I can only talk from an AmaZulu game, Magesi game, and Orlando Pirates. I cannot talk for the games that I was not around,” said Vilakazi.
“And obviously, with the two games that I’ve mentioned, the first two games, I had only seven days with the team. But if you look at the game today, according to my analysis, the performance is even higher than the two. Simply means we are about to be in the draft of going up in terms of the performance.”
Chippa have two games left in 2025, and face Siwelele at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on 29 November.
