All Marumo Gallants players and staff are “safe and in good condition” after a minor accident involving the team bus on Sunday night.
The Marumo Gallants team bus was involved in a minor traffic accident in Durban on Sunday night following the team’s 4-0 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium.
This is according to a statement released by the club on Monday.
The incident occurred as the team was travelling from the stadium to its hotel, with the bus being involved in a three-car pile-up. It was hit from behind by another vehicle which was “pushed forward”, causing it to “lightly bump the rear of the team bus,” according to the statement.
The club reported that no serious injuries resulted from the incident and that players and staff on board are “safe and in good condition”.
“We are thankful that all our players and staff are safe. The incident was minor, and we appreciate the prompt response from local authorities and emergency services who ensure everyone’s safety,” the statement reads.
Gallants will remain in Durban as they prepare to face Durban City in a Betway Premiership clash at the Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday before meeting Golden Arrows again on Saturday at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in the Carling Knockout semi-finals.
