Orlando Pirates may still be without three players for their Betway Premiership clash against Polokwane City at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.
The club provided an injury update in its preview for Wednesday’s fixture, stating that Relebohile Mofokeng, Deano van Rooyen and Tapelo Xoki are all in doubt to appear on the pitch.
“They could still be without attacking midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng, who sat out the trip to West Africa, along with the likes of Deano van Rooyen and Tapelo Xoki who have both been on the sidelines over the past few weeks.”
Van Rooyen has not featured for Pirates since their 1-0 league win over his former club, Stellenbosch, on 20 August. The 28-year-old was subbed off in the 20th minute due to injury and is yet to return to action.
Mofokeng was replaced in the most recent Bafana Bafana squad that faced Zimbabwe and Rwanda in October. He picked up an injury in the Buccaneers’ opening game of the Carling Knockout against Siwelele before the international break, being subbed off in the 62nd minute.
Xoki was last on the bench for the Bucs on 31 August and has subsequently not been in the club’s match day squad. He is yet to play for the club this season.
Pirates are third in the Betway Premiership, six points behind Mamelodi Sundowns with three games in hand.
They will look to push past Polokwane City and close the gap on the ;log-leaders with a win at home on Wednesday.
