Kaizer Chiefs and head coach Nasreddine Nabi have officially parted ways by mutual consent.
This is according to a joint statement released by the club on Friday.
Phefeni Glamour Boys boss was suspended by the club following reports questioning the validity of his coaching licenses. The Tunisian last took charge of a Chiefs game on 16 September when they were dealt their first loss of the season by Sekhukhune United.
“Kaizer Chiefs FC and Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi hereby confirm that, following constructive engagements, they have mutually agreed to conclude their professional relationship on an amicable basis,” the statement reads.
“Kaizer Chiefs FC acknowledges and thanks Coach Nabi for his contribution during his tenure with the Club and extends best wishes for his continued success in future endeavours.
“Coach Nabi, in turn, conveys his appreciation to Kaizer Chiefs FC, its leadership, players and supporters for their commitment and support during his time at the Club.”
The club has appointed assistant coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze to lead the club as co-coaches for the remainder of the season.
Ben Youssef took charge of Chiefs at the start of the season, as Nabi returned home to Tunisia after his wife was seriously injured in a fall. The assistant coach bagged three wins before the head coach’s return.
However, since Nabi’s last appearance, Ben Youssef and Kaze have failed to win a match in domestic competition and were bounced from the Carling Knockout on penalties by Stellenbosch in the first round last weekend.
