‘Cardoso wants to play his own way’

Former Mamelodi Sundowns player Siyanda Zwane has urged the club fans to buy into Miguel Cardoso’s way of doing things on the back of being ‘spoilt’ under the likes of Rulani Mokwena and Pitso Mosimane.

Despite being at the top of the table after their latest Betway Premiership game week, Cardoso has come under much scrutiny for some of the team’s performances on the pitch.

According to Zwane, supporters have to understand that Cardoso is a different mentor compared to what the club has been used to in the past.

“As Sundowns supporters, we have been spoilt. We know that the team is going to dominate when it plays and we know that the team is going to play a good brand of football,” Zwane told Soccer Laduma.

“But currently, that is not happening. We can’t blame the supporters for criticising the team for not having the same confidence on the pitch that we’ve had for the last few seasons. But having said that, we have to consider the fact that there is a different captain on the ship.

“It’s no longer Rulani Mokwena or Pitso Mosimane. Cardoso is his own person, and he wants the team to play a certain way. Unfortunately, it’s not the way we have grown to love from Sundowns.”
