{"id":897,"date":"2025-10-31T11:58:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T09:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/goalmzansi.com\/?p=897"},"modified":"2026-01-28T13:11:24","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T11:11:24","slug":"bafana-banter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goalmzansi.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/31\/bafana-banter\/","title":{"rendered":"Bafana banter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mamelodi Sundowns&#8217; star left-back, Aubrey Modiba, has explained why they cannot afford to lose to Orlando Pirates with the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals looming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two Gauteng giants are scheduled to meet in Saturday&#8217;s eagerly anticipated Betway Premiership encounter at the 2010 FIFA World Cup venue, Loftus Versfeld Stadium, in Pretoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sundowns and Pirates are perennial league title contenders, and their players tend to dominate coach Hugo Broos&#8217; Bafana Bafana squads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think with Pirates, if you can check the last few seasons, this is the team that has been pushing us, especially in the league, towards the end,\u201d Modiba told reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat gives us extra motivation playing against them, and even other teams as well, I think it is because of that and, obviously, the banter in the national team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe do have the same number of players. We always talk about this game, and we don\u2019t want to lose to them going into the national team because the banter is going to be something else as players,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut mostly, it\u2019s because they\u2019ve been doing well in the league, pushing us to the limit.
