Renowned tactician Pitso Mosimane has expressed his pride and excitement at being named the new Bafana Bafana head coach.<\/p>\n
Mosimane was named as the new senior men\u2019s national team head coach on Tuesday by the South African Football Association (SAFA), replacing Belgian Hugo Broos.<\/p>\n
This will be Mosimane\u2019s second tenure in charge of Bafana Bafana. His first spanned from 2010 to 2012 and was terminated after the national team failed to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. He also had a stint as caretaker coach in 2007.<\/p>\n
“I have been given the privilege of leading our national team again. I take this responsibility knowing that I still have something to give in football, especially in my country,” said Mosimane in a press conference.<\/p>\n
“I know this is simply not a coaching job; it is bigger than Pitso Mosimane. I understand the weight of this role, the expectations that come with it, and what this team means to South Africa. With pride and determination, I accept the challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mosimane will begin his reign with back-to-back 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea in the upcoming international window.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
