After being without a club, Wayde Jooste has joined Stellenbosch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stellenbosch has announced the signing of PSL veteran wing-back Wayde Jooste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club announced the news on its official website and social media on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jooste has amassed over 200 professional appearances since beginning his career in 2013. He has represented Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows, Highlands Park, Orlando Pirates, Maritzburg United, and most recently AmaZulu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 34-year-old\u2019s contract at the Durban side was not renewed and he found himself without a club at the end of the 2024\/25 season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His last appearances came for the South African national team taking part in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in August, where he featured in all of Bafana Bafana\u2019s group-stage games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jooste expressed his excited at joining the Maroons in the Cape Winelands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStellenbosch is a Club that I have admired for some time,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a club that has been very successful in the last few seasons, and it\u2019s special for me to become part of that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA few weeks ago, I got a call from Coach Steve, and he asked me if I would be interested, and I don\u2019t even think he finished his question before I said yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been praying and believing that something will come up for me, and something as good as this I could never say no to. I\u2019m honoured and privileged to be part of the Club,\u201d said Jooste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stellenbosch has struggled in the Betway Premiership this season and sits in 14th place, one point above the relegation zone with three wins, three draws and eight losses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the club’s struggles in the league, the Maroons made it to the final of the MTN8 for a second successive season but were beaten by Orlando Pirates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stellies also sit atop group C in the CAF Confederations Cup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
