{"id":1055,"date":"2025-12-14T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-14T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/goalmzansi.com\/?p=1055"},"modified":"2026-01-28T11:53:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T09:53:05","slug":"broos-racism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goalmzansi.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/14\/broos-racism\/","title":{"rendered":"Broos racism"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has made it clear that he did not intend to be racist toward one of his players, Mbekezeli Mbokazi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;Belgian tactician was unhappy with Mbokazi\u2019s conduct after the 20-year-old defender arrived late at the Bafana Bafana camp, having&nbsp;missed his flight from Durban to Johannesburg. where the team is preparing for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When lambasting the new Chicago Fire player during a press conference, Broos said, &#8220;I can assure you, he\u2019s a black guy, but he will get out of my room as a white guy.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The remark sparked racism accusations (with a complaint to the SA Human Rights Commission), which Broos and the South African Football Association (SAFA) have denied, calling it misinterpreted and non-racist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former Cameroon head coach had also referred to Mbokazi\u2019s agent, Basia Michaels, as a \u201cnice little woman who is his agent\u201d while slamming the youngster&#8217;s recent transfer to Chicago Fire from Orlando Pirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is unfortunate that my strong rebuke of the player\u2019s conduct and subsequent comments were misinterpreted as racism and sexism.
